Khamseh, Hamadan, Western Iran

1.7 m by 3.5 m

Hamadan is made up of hundreds of weaving villages. All producing versions of the Herati pattern seen here in the medallion and also village interpretations of Persian workshop carpets.

This piece, unusually has a ivory field colour not encountered often, red being the dominant shade for these rugs.

It is a well finished piece , with a pleasing use of small botehs through out, and a dragon and phionex boarder.
