Afghan Kazak,

Wool on cotton, natural dyes

1 m by 1.5 m

New production, made in the Bamiyan area of Afghanistan. The design is actually derived from the Caucaus', hence, it's name Kazak which relates to an area of Azerbiajan where village rugs were produced in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Afghan weavers, Hazaras in this case, have adapted the design for the western market. They are using good quality local wools and natural dyes to produce very robust and handsome rugs.
